RUNRIO backs drive for cleaner Metro Manila

MANILA, Philippines — Fresh off the successful staging of the Galaxy Manila Marathon, RUNRIO Inc. has reaffirmed its commitment to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) in support of the agency’s environmental and disaster preparedness efforts. RUNRIO President and CEO Rio Dela Cruz personally handed the donation to MMDA Chairman Atty. Romando Artes and fellow officials on Monday, continuing its pledge to support the agency beyond race day. “We are thankful to Chairman Artes and the MMDA as their support has been instrumental in allowing us to safely organize world-class running events, including the Galaxy Manila Marathon on EDSA,” said Dela Cruz. “This donation is our own little way of giving back and backing the agency’s efforts to keep Metro Manila clean and prepared.” The donation consisted of 200 shovels, 400 pairs of rubber boots, 500 pairs of heavy-duty utility gloves, and 120 durable trash bins, all of which will be used for the MMDA’s regular cleaning operations and other environmental protection and disaster response initiatives aimed at keeping Metro Manila’s waterways clear and helping mitigate flooding.

National marathon record holder Sonny Wagdos rules Tri-City Half Marathon Makati leg

National marathon record holder Sonny Wagdos ruled the Makati leg of the Tri-City Half Marathon, held on July 5 at Ayala Triangle Gardens. Wagdos topped the men’s 21K race after clocking 1:09:21, finishing ahead of Jose Fabito Jr. (1:15:49) and Jevie Rebutazo (1:15:50), who completed the podium. Elite runner Jessa Mae Roda, meanwhile, emerged as the fastest in the women’s 21K race with a time of 1:25:23. Maricar Camacho finished second in 1:30:50, while Patrice Anne Quiday placed third in 1:38:55. In the men’s 10K race, Rai Sen topped the field with a time of 35:56, narrowly edging Jonathan Pulido (35:57), while JP Enano (37:43) finished third. Maria Jonna Lina Abutas, meanwhile, won the women’s 10K in 42:26, followed by Em Sigue (47:12) and Alessandra Jimjoco (50:15).

Wagdos, Roda rule REV* Tri-City Half Marathon

TOO fast, too good. Sonny Wagdos and Jessa Mae Roda proved untouchable in the 21K race in the Makati leg of the REV* Tri-City Half Marathon over the weeked at Ayala Triangle Gardens. Wagdos emerged as the fastest male finisher after checking in 1:09:21, comfortably ahead of Jose Fabito Jr.(1:15:49) and Jevie Rebutazo (1:15:50). Roda also put up a dominant performance in the women’s division, completing it in 1:25:23, followed by Maricar Camacho (1:30:50) and Patrice Anne Quiday (1:38:55). The Makati leg was a superb follow up to the successful first staging which happened in Manila, with more runners expected to join in the finale in Quezon City on Dec. 13.

Wagdos emerged as the fastest male finisher after clocking one hour, nine minutes and 21 seconds, comfortably ahead of Jose Fabito Jr. .(1:15:49) and Jevie Rebutazo (1:15:50). Roda, on the other hand, also put up a dominant performance in the women’s division, completing it in 1:25:23 as she was followed by Maricar Camacho (1:30:50) and Patrice Anne Quiday (1:38:55).
